CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men's soccer team tied the match midway through the first half, but a late goal by No. 11 Babson gave the Beavers a 2-1 win on Roberts Field.
Before the game, MIT acknowledged five seniors and two graduate students for their contributions to the Engineers. The seniors honored were
Jack Minor (Boca Raton, Fla.),
Arun Kirk (Chapel Hill, N.C.),
Nathan Guntvedt (Santa Clara, Calif.),
Joseph Gross (Miami, Fla.), and
Nicolas Stone Perez (Coral Gables, Fla.). The graduate students honored were
Adam Snowdon (Lorton, Va.) and
Aidan Hallinan (Carlsbad, Calif.).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Babson jumped out to an early lead as a looping shot from the forty from James Donaldson bounced into the goal just 2:07 into the match.
- Snowdon got past the Beavers' defense and got the ball to first year Jonah Gurion (Rye, N.Y.), who sent the ball into the corner of the net to tie the game at 22:48.
- The Beavers had an excellent opportunity to take a 2-1 with the MIT goalkeeper out of position, but Minor kept the ball from crossing the goal line.
- Gurion almost had his second goal of the game as he got senior Walker White (Coral Gables, Fla.) out of the goal, but graduate student Marco Cerezo (Malaga, Spain) kept the ball out of the net.
- Graduate student Kento Abe (Quincy, Mass.) gave Babson the lead as his shot from the right side of the goal found the upper left corner of the net at 74:52. He had an opportunity to make it a 3-1 Beaver lead in the 82-minute, but his penalty kick attempt sailed high.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Gurion tallied his sixth score of the season while Snowdon got his third assist.
- Sophomore Paolo Mangiafico (Farmington, Conn.) made two saves in the match while his counterpart White made one.
- Babson held an 11-8 advantage in shots and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
- Donaldson and Abe each recorded their sixth goals of the season.

- MIT enters the home stretch of the regular season as the Engineers will head to Worcester on Wednesday, October 30 for a 7:00 PM match against WPI. The Beavers will head to Clark for a 7:00 PM match on Wednesday.
