WESTWOOD, Mass. – First year
Shikhar Motupally (Avon, Conn.) of the MIT men's soccer team was named the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year while three other Engineers earned All-Conference nods as the NEWMAC released its major awards and All-Conference teams. All four of the Engineers are first-time honorees. Sophomore
Dilin Meloni (Needham, Mass.) earned First Team All-NEWMAC while Motupally, senior
Jack Minor (Boca Raton, Fla.), and graduate student
Aidan Hallinan (Carlsbad, Calif.) were named to the second team.
The Engineers have had the rookie of the year in back-to-back seasons as
Nico Mangiafico (Farmington, Conn.) won the award last season. Overall MIT has had nine student-athletes named NEWMAC Rookie of the Year.
Shikhar Motupally
- Finished second in the NEWMAC in goals (9), assists (7) and points (25)
- Scored three game-winning goals and went 2-2 on PKs
- Helped lead an MIT offense that scored 30 goals
Dilin Meloni
- Played in 18 games at midfield
- Finished the year with two goals and two assists
- Helped the Engineers' defense allow a shot percentage of .123.
Jack Minor
- Appeared in 15 games at defense
- Scored four goals including the game-winner at Clark
- Helped the Engineers post four shutouts during the season
Aidan Hallinan
- Finished second on the team with a career-high six goals
- Also recorded a career-best 14 points
- Appeared in 19 games at defense
- Scored three game-winning goals
