Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Defeated by Clark in Season Finale

THE BASICS:

- Score: Clark - 109, MIT - 85

- Records: MIT (6-19, 5-11 NEWMAC), Clark (18-6, 12-3 NEWMAC)

- Location: Worcester, Mass. (Kneller Athletic Center)

- The Lead: The MIT men's basketball team fell to Clark, 109-85 in the Engineers season finale. MIT had four players score in double figures, led by junior Spencer Lin (Menlo Park, Calif.) and first year Isaac Dobie (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) with 20 a piece.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Two free throws from first year Merlin Gogolin (New York, N.Y.) cut the Clark lead to 7-6 at the 16:25 mark of the first. The Cougars then built a 16-8 advantage before four straight points from Dobie got MIT to within four. After a Dobie three cut the Clark lead to 10 with 9:51 left in the first, the Cougars scored five straight and built a 61-42 halftime advantage.

- Clark continued to hold onto the double-digit lead, but a layup from Gogolin got MIT to 63-44 early in the second, and this three-point play at 14:43 made it a 71-54 game. That was as close as the Cougars would let the Engineers as they pulled away for the 109-85 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Dobie recorded his 16th double-digit scoring game and has scored at least 20 points in four of the last five games for MIT. Lin posted a team-high seven rebounds and four steals to go with his 20 points.

- Gogolin finished with 18 points and five rebounds. Sophomore Tim Minicozzi (Belmont, Mass.) added 11 points.

- MIT shot 21-22 from the free-throw line.

- Clark finished with five players in double-figures, led by Jordan Richard who scored a game-high 26 points.
