CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (February 27) – MIT first-year
Isaac Dobie (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year for his performance during the 2023-34 season as voted on by the league coaches. This is the second straight season the Engineers have had the Rookie of the Year as
Rome Delgado-Gonzalez (Miami, Fla.) won the award last season. Dobie is the seventh Engineer to win the award.
Dobie averaged 14.6 points per game and started all 25 games he appeared in. He also totaled 110 rebounds and 31 steals. He recorded 16 games with 10 or more points and posted eight games of 20 or more points including a career-high 37 points against Clark.
Dobie averaged a league-best 18.3 points per game in conference play and scored a career-high 37 points against Clark. He poured in 34 points against Coast Guard, and had eight games of 20 or more points in NEWMAC contests.
