HOW IT HAPPENED
- Set 1: The first set was a back-and-forth battle between MIT and St. John Fisher as there were nine ties in the early portions of the set. Ultimately, the Engineers pulled away at the end of the set, winning 25-22.
- Set 2: With MIT leading 12-9 in the middle of the set, the Cardinals shifted the momentum as they scored four straight unanswered points to take the lead. From there, the Engineers were unable to swing the momentum back their way as they dropped the set, 22-25. Junior
Grant Oh (Irvine, Calif.) registered six kills for the Engineers in the set.
- Set 3: A pair of five-point runs early on gave MIT enough cushion to control the set, defeating the Cardinals 25-16. Gustafson registered six of the 15 kills in the set for MIT.
-Set 4: The final set was a nail-biter with 13 ties between the two. Tied at 22-22, MIT got two kills from Gustafson and a service ace from senior
Phillip Johnson (Chandler, Ariz.) to lift the Engineers to the win.
