Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball Earns 3-0 Victory Over Dean

- Score: MIT - 3, Dean - 0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-12)

- Records: MIT (11-5), Dean (3-9)

- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Rockwell Cage)

- The Lead: The MIT men's volleyball team cruised to a non-conference sweep of visiting Dean College on Wednesday night at Rockwell Cage. The Engineers extend their winning streak to seven matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
- Set 1: MIT raced out to a 14-5 lead on back-to-back kills from graduate student Nick Gustafson (San Diego, Calif.). The Engineers used a 7-0 run and kill from Gustafson giving MIT the 25-9 win.
 
- Set 2: Dean cut the MIT advantage to 8-5 before a 4-0 run gave the host a 12-5 lead. The Engineers continued to lead throughout the remainder of the set with back-to-back aces from sophomore Ben Volokh (Studio City, Calif.) giving MIT the set, 25-12.

- Set 3: Back-to-back points from the Bulldogs made it an 18-10 match, but MIT went on a 7-2 run to end the match with a kill from senior Max Turner (Chandler, Ariz.) sealed the 25-12 win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 
- Volokh led the way offensively with nine kills. Gustafson, first-year Kevin Zhu (Dublin, Calif.) and sophomore Michael Rini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) finished with six a piece. Gustafson led the way with seven digs.
 
- Junior Riley Oh (Irvine, Calif.) finished with 31 assists and six digs.
 
- MIT hit .470 in the match.

UP NEXT:

- The Engineers remain at home as they will host a non-conference tri-match on Saturday, March 9th. MIT opens the day with a 12 p.m. match against Buffalo St. followed by a 4 p.m. match against Regis.
