Haertel Places Seventh in 60 Meters on Final Day of NCAA Championship

THE BASICS:
 
- Meet: 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championship
 
- Location: Virginia Beach, Va. (Virginia Beach Sports Complex)
 
- Results: T-25th of 64 (Nine Points)
 
- The Lead: Sophomore Patrick Haertel (Cumming, Ga.) captured seventh place in the 60 meters, helping the MIT men's track and field team finish tied for 25th place out of 64 scoring teams at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday.
 
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
 
- A first-time qualifier, Haertel earned All-America honors as his time of 6.86 seconds ranked seventh.
 
- Junior Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished ninth in the shot put with a distance of 16.74m (54' 11.25").
 
- First-year Anthony Meng (Scottsdale, Ariz.) tied for ninth place in the high jump as he cleared 1.99m (6' 6.25").
 
- Graduate student Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) rounded out the Engineers as he finished 11th in the 3,000m with a time of 8:14.23.
 
- Engebretson, Meng, and Acquaviva each earned All-America Second Team honors for their performances.
