- The Lead: Sophomore Patrick Haertel (Cumming, Ga.) captured seventh place in the 60 meters, helping the MIT men's track and field team finish tied for 25^th place out of 64 scoring teams at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday.
 
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
 
- A first-time qualifier, Haertel earned All-America honors as his time of 6.86 seconds ranked seventh.
 
- Junior Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished ninth in the shot put with a distance of 16.74m (54' 11.25").
 
- First-year Anthony Meng (Scottsdale, Ariz.) tied for ninth place in the high jump as he cleared 1.99m (6' 6.25").
 
- Graduate student Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) rounded out the Engineers as he finished 11^th in the 3,000m with a time of 8:14.23.
 
- Engebretson, Meng, and Acquaviva each earned All-America Second Team honors for their performances.
