No. 29 Men's Tennis Defeats NEWMAC Rival No. 32 Babson, 6-3

THE BASICS:

- Location: Cambridge, Mass (DuPont Tennis Courts) 

- Scores: No. 29 MIT - 6, No. 32 Babson - 3

- Records: MIT (10-3, 3-0 NEWMAC), Babson (7-8, 3-1 NEWMAC)

- The Lead: The No. 29 MIT men's tennis team defeated No. 32 Babson in NEWMAC action Wednesday afternoon in Cambridge, Mass.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
- In the top slot, graduate student Daniel Papacica (Carmel, Calif.) and first-year Grant Gallagher (Irvine, Calif.) defeated Andrew Watchson and Caymus Choi 8-6 for the first win of the day. Seniors Sundeep Chakladar (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and Joseph Li (Naperville, Ill.) followed with an 8-6 win in No. 2 doubles over Kerem Ozlale and Ole Lepsoe. In No. 3 doubles, senior Kailas Kahler (Pawtucket, R.I.) and first-year Shrish Choudhary (Fremont, Calif.) wrapped up doubles with an 8-2 win against Wesley Zhang and Logan Back.
 
- MIT won three of six singles matches. The first singles win came from Kahler over Ozlale, 6-2, 6-3 in No. 1 singles. Junior Ryan Xiao (Cary, N.C.) quickly followed, beating Choi 6-3, 6-1 in three singles.
 
- First-year Siddharth Marathe (Pune India) scored the last Engineer win of the day with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win in No. 4 singles over Andrew Watson.

- MIT is back in action on Friday, April 12 as they take on Skidmore College for a 3:30 P.M. start.
