The Lead: The MIT softball team earned a doubleheader split on the road against Wheaton on Monday afternoon. Junior
Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.) set the program record in RBI as she now has 98 in her career.
HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME ONE
- MIT struck first as an RBI double from senior
Katia Pendowski (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) plated junior
Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Fla.) in the top of the first.

- Cable hit a sacrifice fly in the second, and the Engineers added two more runs in the third on an error and a single by sophomore
Olivia Scarpaci (Staten Island, N.Y.) to make it 4-0.

- The Lyons got on the board in the sixth on a double steal, but that is all the runs they could muster against sophomore
Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) as MIT took game one, 4-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Langmeyer threw her eighth complete game on the year to move to 8-2 on the year. She scattered four hits with two walks and five Ks.

- Cable, Pendowski, and Scarpaci recorded two hits and an RBI in the game. First-year
Arianna Kumar (San Diego, Calif.) also tallied two hits on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME TWO
- Wheaton took a 6-0 lead after the first two innings of play.

- Junior
Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.) hit a two-out single in the fifth and scored the first Engineer run of the day on a double to left by Bivin.

Mackenzie Relihan (Naperville, Ill.)Â andÂ
Rylie Spiegel (Rumson, N.J.) singled to left to put two runners on with two outs in the sixth. Sophomore
Kara Hines (Cynthiana, Ky.) doubled both runners home to cut the Wheaton lead in half.
- The Lyons tacked on four runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the 10-3 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Cable and Hines led the way with two hits each for MIT.

- With her RBI, Bivin is now the program leader in RBI with 98, surpassing
Tori Jensen. Her 22 career doubles rank ninth all-time.
