Men's Tennis Advances to NEWMAC Championship with 5-0 Win Over Clark

THE BASICS:
 
- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (DuPont Tennis Courts)
 
- Scores: No. 28 MIT - 5, Clark - 0
 
- Records: MIT (17-3), Clark (12-7)
 
- The Lead: The No. 28 MIT men's tennis team will play for its 24th NEWMAC Championship, as the top-seeded Engineers defeated fourth-seeded Clark, 5-0 on Saturday afternoon on the DuPont Tennis Courts.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
- MIT raced out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Senior Kailas Kahler (Pawtucket, R.I.) and first-year Adam Sun (Glendale, Ariz.) kicked off doubles with an 8-2 win in three doubles. Seniors Joseph Li (Naperville, Ill.) and Sundeep Chakladar (Redondo Beach, Calif.) earned an 8-4 win in No. 2 doubles, and graduate student Daniel Papacica (Carmel, Calif.) and first-year Grant Gallagher (Irvine, Calif.) wrapped up doubles with an 8-4 win in No. 1 doubles.
 
- First-year Shrish Choudhary (Fremont, Calif.) put MIT up 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 6 singles, and first-year Siddharth Marathe (Pune, India) won the match for MIT with a 6-2, 6-0 win in No. 5 singles.

- The Engineers will host Babson for the NEWMAC Tournament Championship tomorrow, Sunday, April 29th at 12:00 p.m. on the DuPont Tennis Courts.
