The Lead: The MIT softball team earned an 11-0 win in game one against Babson, however, the Beavers took game two, 4-0 as the NEWMAC foes split a Saturday doubleheader.
HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME ONE
- Sophomore
Kara Hines (Cynthiana, Ky.) launched her first homer of the season in the third to give MIT a 2-0 lead.

- Babson loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the third, but sophomore
Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) got a popup to end the inning and keep the Engineers in the lead.

- MIT scored four runs in the fourth as Hines knocked in two with a double, and senior
Mackenzie Relihan (Naperville, Ill.) and junior
Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Fla.) recorded RBI hits.
Â
- A five-run fifth sealed the win for MIT as first-year
Nicole Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.) singled home the 11th run of the day, and Langmeyer retired Babson in order in the bottom of the frame.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Langmeyer improved to 6-1 as she scattered four hits across five innings of work. She struck out three and walked three.

- Hines led MIT with two hits and a career-high five RBI. Cable and Relihan also added two RBI each in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME TWO
- Neither team could muster much offense in game two. with the teams combining for just seven hits.

- Babson got on the board quickly with a sacrifice fly in the first. They tacked on another run on an RBI double from Sara Moore.

- MIT got singles from Hines and junior
Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.), but neither was able to get past first, and Babson added two more runs for the 4-0 win. Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Becca O'Connor (San Antonio, Texas) falls to 3-2 as she tossed six innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and five walks.

Moira O'Reilly moves to 5-7 as she allowed four baserunners (two hits and two walks) with eight strikeouts.
