CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 4 MIT women's swimming and diving team grabbed the program's first win over Division I Boston University on Friday night at the Zesiger Center Pool. This is the second win over a DI opponent for the Engineers this season as they defeated Northeastern earlier this year.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
400 Medley Relay
- The Engineers opened the meet with a first-place finish, besting the BU team by almost four seconds. Senior Kate Augustyn (Eau Claire, Wis.), first year Sarah Bernard (Brookline, Mass.), graduate student Alexandra Turvey (Vancouver, B.C.), and sophomore Ella Roberson (Midland, Mich.) took the top spot in 3:44.58.
200 Free
- Augustyn took the top spot in 1:51.93 followed by first year Mary Feliz (Millersville, Md.) in second with a time of 1:53.13. First year Belise Swartwood (Honolulu, Hawaii) completed the podium sweep with a third-place finish.
50 Back
- Senior Iris Yang (Seattle, Wash.) had the top time of 25.65 followed by junior Annika Naveen (Wynnewood, Pa.) in second with a mark of 26.03.
50 Breast
- For the second time in the meet, MIT swept the top three spots. Bernard took first in 28.94 followed by sophomore Kailey Simons (Williston Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Anna Li (Boyds, Md.).
200 Fly
- Turvey finished in 2:04.85 for second. Junior Natalie Tang (Allen, Texas) came in third with a time of 2:05.22.
50 Free
- Roberson won the event in 23.33. Simons finished tied for second with a time of 24.17 and Naveen took fourth with a time of 24.26.
100 Free
- Roberson won her second event of the evening with a time of 51.59.
200 Back
- Augustyn won her second crown of the day with a winning time of 2:00.68
200 Breast
- First year Lauren Adler (Ann Arbor, Mich.) finished in second with a time of 2:22.79 while Li finished fourth in 2:23.95.
500 Free
- Bernard won her second event of the day as she took the top spot with a school record time of 4:53.11, defeating Katie Pestrichelli (Bridgewater, N.J.) by almost 10 seconds.
50 Fly
- MIT dominated the event taking the top-five spots. Turvey led the way with a time of 25.31 followed by first year Rachel Yang (San Diego, Calif.) and Naveen who both touched the wall at 25.63. Junior Lauren Levy (Amherst, N.Y.) and Yang rounded out the top-five for the Engineers.
200 IM
- Augustyn grabbed her third individual win of the evening with a win in the 200 IM. She finished with a time of 2:03.99.
400 Free Relay
- MIT concluded the meet with a win in the 400 Free Relay. Led by Turvey, Swartwood, first year Lillian Poag (Houston, Texas), and Roberson finished in 3:26.46.
1-Meter Dive
- Sophomore Fiora Beratahani (San Jose, Calif.) finished in second with a score of 280.65 followed by Senior Rachel Loh (Arcadia, Calif.) in third with a tally of 269.10.
3-Meter Dive
- Beratahani and Loh swept the top spots led by Beratahani with a score of 314.33. Loh finished with a score of 295.05.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The 400 medley relay team recorded an NCAA B Cut time.
- Augustyn hit and NCAA B Cut time in the 200 Free and 200 Back as well as the 200 IM.
- Roberson recorded an NCAA B Cut in the 50 and 100 Free.
- Bernard recorded an NCAA B Cut with her 500 Free win.
- Beratahani and Loh hit regional qualifying marks on both boards.
