No. 20 Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Dean, 3-0

FRANKLIN, Mass. – No. 20 MIT defeated Dean College, 25-12, 25-16, 25-14, in a non-conference men's volleyball match on Tuesday night. First-year Hansen Fan (Center Valley, Pa.) tallied six kills, five digs, three blocks, and two aces for the Engineers.
 
THE BASICS:
  • Score: No. 20 MIT 3, Dean 0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-14)
  • Records: No. 20 MIT (4-0 Overall); Dean (0-3 Overall)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Set 1: Back-to-back aces by sophomore Jensen Fiskin (Palm Desert, Calif.) sparked a 9-0 run that resulted in an 18-6 advantage. MIT went on to win the set, 25-12, on a kill by first-year Braeden Baker (Phoenix, Ariz.).
  • Set 2: The Engineers raced out to a 10-1 lead, but Dean battled back, using a hitting error to come within 15-11. MIT maintained a small cushion before eventually pulling away for a 25-16 victory.
  • Set 3: The Engineers recorded the first seven points of the set and eventually reached match point at 24-9 on an ace by sophomore Aden Adjei (Pooler, Ga.). The Bulldogs capitalized on miscues by the visitors, however, a ball-handling error secured the 25-14 win for MIT.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Kevin Windisch (Placentia, Calif.) generated five kills and five digs while Fiskin finished with 17 assists, five aces, four digs, and two blocks.
UP NEXT:
  • MIT continues its road trip on Friday, January 24 when it visits Regis College for a 5:00 PM match.
