CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Graduate student Jarron Flynn (Roslindale, Mass.) topped all scorers with 20 points as Springfield College collected a 75-63 NEWMAC win over MIT men's basketball on Saturday at Rockwell Cage.
Pride junior John Paulino (New Bedford, Mass.) added 13 points with a trio of assists. Sophomore
Isaac Dobie (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) paced the Engineers with 18 points. Junior
Parker Spann (Omaha, Neb.) chipped in 14 points and seven boards.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After the Engineers scored the first four points of the game, Springfield countered with a 13-1 attack.
- MIT went on a run, expanding its lead to 22-17 at the 3:37 mark on a layup by sophomore Woods Windham (Greer, S.C.).
- The teams alternated baskets to end the half. A late layup from Springfield first year Hunter Matteson (Dartmouth, Mass.) made it 32-31 MIT at the break.
- MIT held a narrow margin to start the second half. The Pride grabbed a 37-36 advantage on a Flynn lay in at 17:45.
- The lead went back and forth, with neither team able to control the momentum until a Springfield 8-0 stretch made it 48-41 with 12:09 remaining.
- The Pride's advantage hit double-digits at 60-48 on a triple from first year Cedric Rodriguez (Burlington, Mass.).
- The Engineers couldn't get back within six points, as Springfield closed out a 75-63 affair.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Springfield shot 26-for-53 (49.1%) as a team. The Pride benefited from 17 points off of turnovers.
- The Pride narrowly won the rebound battle 38-37.
- MIT senior Spencer Lin (Menlo Park, Calif.) recorded four steals and three assists.
- Sophomore Merlin Gogolin (New York, N.Y.) put up 10 points to join Dobie and Spann in double figures.
