MEDFORD, Mass. - The No. 3 MIT women's swimming and diving team defeated No. 8 Tufts, 189.5-110.5 on Saturday afternoon at the Hamilton Pool. The Engineers won 14 of the 16 events on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
3-Meter Dive: Sophomore Fiora Beratahani (San Jose, Calif.) won the event with a score of 331.58. Senior Rachel Loh (Arcadia, Calif.) took second with a score of 305.70.
1-Meter Dive: Beratahani completed the sweep with a winning score of 304.88.
200 Medley Relay: Senior Kate Augustyn (Eau Claire, Wis.), first-year Sarah Bernard (Brookline, Mass.), junior Annika Naveen (Wynnewood, Pa.), and sophomore Ella Roberson (Midland, Mich.) opened the meet with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:42.29
1000 Free: Sophomore Christina Beggs (Voorhees, N.J.) clocked in with a time of 10:26.68 to finish second.
200 Free: MIT took the top four spots led by sophomore Sydney Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) who clocked in with a time of 1:52.44. Junior Natalie Tang (Allen, Texas) finished second (1:54.03) followed by Bernard and first-year Lauren Adler (Ann Arbor, Mich.).
100 Back: Augustyn got her first individual victory of the day in the 100 Back as she touched the wall in 55.43.
100 Breast: Bernard took home the top spot with her winning time of 1:03.76. Sophomore Anna Li (Boyds, Md.) finished fourth in 1:05.95.
200 Fly: Graduate student Sydney Chun (Chandler, Ariz.) led MIT with a second-place finish in the event. She finished the event in 2:06.97.
50 Free: The Engineers took three of the top four spots led by graduate student Alexandra Turvey (Vancouver, B.C.) with a time of 23.75. Roberson finished fractions of a second behind Turvey with a time of 23.78. First-year Rachel Yang (San Diego, Calif.) took fourth in 24.21.
100 Free: Roberson and Turvey went 1-2 in the event with Roberson leading the way with a time of 50.40. Turvey clocked in at 51.61.
200 Back: Augustyn completed the sweep of the backstroke events with a winning time of 2:02.12. First-year Jessica Crane (Katonah, N.Y.) finished in third with a time of 2:05.38.
200 Breast: Bernard completed the sweep of the breaststroke events as she won the event in 2:19.52.
500 Free: Adler won the event with a time of 5:03.02. Tang took third in 5:11.08.
100 Fly: Turvey won her second individual event with a time of 56.63. Junior Lauren Levy (Amherst, N.Y.) finished in 57.30 for third place.
200 IM: Roberson took the top spot with a winning time of 2:05.22. Li finished third with a final time of 2:08.52.
200 Free Relay: MIT finished the event with another relay win as the team of Augustyn, Turvey, Smith, and Naveen finished in first with a time of 1:34.53.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The 200 Medley Relay team opened the event with an NCAA B Cut time. The time is two seconds faster than last year's invited time of 1:44.06.
- Bernard hit and NCAA B Cut with her 100-breast time. Her time of 1:03.76 is faster than last year's invited time of 1:03.99. She also grabbed a B Cut time in the 200 breast and bested last year's invited time.
- Augustyn registered an NCAA B Cut in the 100-Back and her time was also faster than last year's invited time. She completed the same feat in the 200-back.
- Beratahani recorded NCAA Regional scores on both boards. Loh achieved a regional mark on the 3-Meter.
- Roberson swam faster than last year's invited time in the 200 IM.
- The 200-Free relay time was an NCAA B Cut and faster than last year's invited time.
