MARLBOROUGH, Mass.  – MIT football junior defensive back Dominic Hess has been named the NEWMAC Football Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 26, 2025. Hess, who was also this week's New England Football Writers Association Division II/III Gold Helmet Award recipient, earns NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in his career.
Hess recorded eight tackles and two interceptions to help the Engineers to a 28-20 NEWMAC victory over Salve Regina on Saturday. Both of Hess' interceptions came in the second quarter, including a 39-yard pick-six that put MIT ahead 21-6 at the time. Hess has now recorded back-to-back games with two interceptions giving him a career-high four on the season.
Hess and the Engineers will host WPI in NEWMAC action this Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 12:00 PM.
