Football’s Hess Named to NEFW All-New England College Division Team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT football junior defensive back Dominic Hess has been named to the 2025 New England Football Writers Association All-New England College Division Team. The team, selected by a committee of media relations representatives, honors the best Division II and III players by position in New England from the 2025 season. Hess is one of thirty-three conference all-stars representing 16 schools from the five New England Division II and III football playing conferences.

Hess, a NEWMAC All-Conference First Team selection in 2025, was a two-time NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week during the 2025 season, as he ended the year tied for the NEWMAC lead with five interceptions while recording 45 total tackles, 25 solo tackles a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. He was also recognized during the season by the New England Football Writers Association as the Week 9 recipient of the Division II/III Gold Helmet Award after recording a pair of second quarter interceptions, including a 39-yard pick six, to help the Engineers to a 28-20 victory over Salve Regina. The Salve Regina game was the second of a three-game stretch that saw Hess record five interceptions and two pick sixes over the three-game stretch.

Hess was one of eight NEWMAC selections to the All-New England team and the only defensive back from the conference recognized among the best players in New England Division II and III.  The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 11, at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel and Conference Center. Reservations must be made no later than Friday, December 5 at 4:00PM, and may be made at https://newenglandfootballwriters.com/captains-%26-awards-banquet. Tickets are $75/person.
