Praizner Leads Men’s Track and Field at BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener

BOSTON, Mass. — Kristian Praizner set an MIT program record in the 300m as the MIT men's track and field program opened the indoor season on Saturday at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. Praizner's time in the 300m is now No. 19 all-time in NCAA Division III.

TOP PERFORMERS - Track Events: 
  • 60m Hurdles: Enoch Ellis won the event, defeating a pair of Division I competitors, with a time of 8.37.
  • 60m prelims: Patrick Haertel was fourth in the opening heat and seventh overall to advance to the final with a time of 7.14. He went on to finish seventh in the final with a time of 7.20.
  • 600m: Rookie Ian Gerard finished in the top ten with a blistering time of 1:22.84. He was the third fastest DIII competitor in the field.
  • 300m: Kristian Praizner won his heat and was ninth in the field with a personal and MIT record time of 34.97.
  • 200m: Nolan Clement and Dylan Bradford both finished in the top ten, with Clement taking second in his heat and fifth overall in 22.52 and Bradford finishing ninth in 22.81.
  • 4x400m Relay: Praizner finished his day alongside Davis Lee, Wyatt Vick and Ayman Noreldaim, as MIT's 4x4 relay combined for a time of 3:24.21, trailing the host Terriers (3:20.46) and DIII rival Williams (3:22.41).
  • 3000m: Tim Neumann won the fourth heat of the 3000m with a PR of 8:06.94. Neumann's time was 43rd among all competitors in a heavily contested and predominantly Division I field of 124 runners.
  • 5000m: Renne Cooper finished 146th in 14:20.54. Cooper was fourth, and the top DIII competitor, in his heat.

TOP PERFORMERS - Field Events: 

  • High Jump: Anthony Meng captured the title in a three-person field, clearing 2.03m (6'8") on his second attempt at the height. 
  • Pole Vault: Following his standout rookie campaign, Jaden McKee took first in the first competition of his sophomore campaign, clearing 4.70m (15'5"). He defeated teammate Leo Sun by clearing 4.55m (14'11") as the Engineers went 1-2 in the event. 
  • Long Jump: Sean Huckleberry was second with a personal record mark of 6.77m (22'8") on his first attempt.
  • Triple Jump: Fischer James Espiritu Argosino set a personal record with a mark of 13.13m (43'1"), finishing second.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Gerard's time in the 600m already ranks him inside the top-ten all-time for MIT.
  • Jack Wang finished sixth (7.24) in the first heat of the 60m and took 13th overall.
  • Vick and Noreldaim also finished 15th (1:24.36) and 16th (1:24.74) for the Engineers in the 600m.
  • Praizner was the top Division III finisher in the 300m, with Lee, Keegan Brady and Adam Eisdorfer also finishing 18th, 25th, and 27th, respectively, for MIT.
  • Huckleberry was second only to MIT alum Kenneth Wei's mark of 6.91m (22'8").

NEXT UP: 

  • MIT will host its annual Alumni Meet on December 13 before the Engineers break from the end of the semester.
  • MIT's first meet in 2026 is the Beantown Challenge at Harvard on Saturday, January 17.
