WORCESTER, Mass. - The No. 2 MIT women's swimming and diving team set three NEWMAC and two school records on day two of the NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championship at WPI. The Engineers won all six events on the day to extend their lead over Springfield.

Standings: 1. MIT - 615 Points, 2. Springfield - 278 Points, 3. Wheaton - 266 Points
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 200 Free Relay: The MIT relay team of graduate student Alexandra Turvey (Vancouver, B.C.), sophomore Sydney Smith (Atlanta, Ga.), sophomore Ella Roberson (Midland, Mich.) and junior Annika Naveen (Wynnewood, Pa.) won the race in 1:31.48.
- 500 Free: First year Sarah Bernard (Brookline, Mass.) took the top spot in 4:53.99, followed by first year Jessica Crane (Katonah, N.Y.) in third with a time of 4:58.87. First year Lauren Adler (Ann Arbor, Mich.) clocked in at 4:58.94 for fourth, and first year Mary Feliz (Millersville, Md.) finished in fifth.
- 200 IM: The Engineers swept the top spots led by senior Kate Augustyn (Eau Claire, Wis.) who took the top spot in 2:00.31. She was followed by sophomore Christina Beggs (Voorhees, N.J.), sophomore Anna Li (Boyds, Md.), junior Natalie Tang (Allen, Texas), and graduate student Sydney Chun (Chandler, Ariz.).
- 50 Free: Roberson, Naveen, Turvey, sophomore Kailey Simons (Williston, Park, N.Y.), and first year Rachel Yang (San Diego, Calif.) swept the top five spots. Roberson clocked in just ahead of Naveen with a time of 23.24 while Naveen finished in 23.28.
- 1-Meter Dive: Sophomore Fiora Beratahani (San Jose, Calif.) won the event with a score of 495.10. Senior Rachel Loh (Arcadia, Calif.) finished fourth and junior Emma Scott (Belmont, Calif.) took fifth.
- 400 Medley Relay: Augustyn, Bernard, Smith and Turvey won the race with a time of 3:40.36, 13 seconds ahead of second-place Wheaton.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The 200 Free Relay set a new NEWMAC Meet record.
- Naveen has earned wins in three-straight years in the 200 Free relay while Roberson was a member of last year's 200 Free Relay win.
- Bernard posted an NCAA B Cut mark that is faster than last year's invited time.
- Augustyn won her fourth 200 IM and posted the third fastest time in Division III. She also set a new NEWMAC Open and school record in the event. The NEWMAC Open record was set in 2013.
- Roberson defended her title in the 50 Free. She along with Naveen and Turvey all posted times faster than last year's invited time.
- Beratahani defended her title on the 1-Meter Board. All three Engineers hit NCAA Regional scores.
- Augustyn has been a member of four 400 Medley Relay winning teams. Smith has earned two victories on the relay. The relay bested its previous time of 3:40.76 to lower its third fastest time in the country in the event. The team also set a new NEWMAC and school record. Her leadoff leg of 53.29 set a new national record, breaking her previous record of 53.41.

Day three of 2025 NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships will begin tomorrow, Saturday February 22 with prelims at 10:00 AM and finals beginning at 6:00 PM. Tomorrow's action will feature the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, and the 200 Medley Relay. Prior to the start of the evening session will be the Senior Recognition Ceremony.
