Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

No. 25 Men's Tennis Falls to No. 28 Wesleyan, 4-3

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The No. 25 MIT men's tennis team dropped a closely contested 4-3 match to No. 28 Wesleyan on the road on Friday afternoon. 
 
THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Wesleyan 4, MIT 3 
  • Records: No. 25 MIT (1-3 Overall), No. 28 Wesleyan (3-1 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Cardinals swept doubles without dropping a set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.  
  • Senior Ryan Xiao (Cary, N.C.) earned a straight-set win in No. 1 singles over Harrison Collomb (Wellesley, Mass.), 6-2, 6-4. 
  • Wesleyan grabbed wins in two, three, and five singles to take a 4-2 lead. 
  • In six singles, sophomore Grant Gallagher (Irvine, Calif.) got the win over Chase Kasday (Las Vegas, Nevada) 6-2, 6-3. 
  • Sophomore Siddharth Marathe (Pune, India) concluded the match with a 7-6, 7-5 win in No. 4 singles. Marathe was down 0-4 in the second set before rallying for the win.  

UP NEXT: 

  • MIT back on the courts tomorrow, Saturday March 15 as they open NEWMAC play with a 12:00 PM road contest at Clark. The Cardinals will head to Christopher Newport on Thursday, March 20 for a 3:00 PM match.
