Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

No. 25 Men's Tennis Earns 5-2 Win Over Bates

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After dropping the doubles portion of the match, the No. 25 MIT men's tennis team rallied to win five of six singles matches to earn a 5-2 victory over Bates on Wednesday afternoon. 
 
THE BASICS: 

  • Score: MIT 5, Bates 2 
  • Records: No. 25 MIT (3-3 Overall), Bates (3-7 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Sophomore Grant Gallagher (Irvine, Calif.) and sophomore SangHyuk Im (Irvine, Calif.) dropped a tight 7-6 decision in No. 1 doubles. MIT got its lone doubles win in the third position with senior Ryan Xiao (Cary, N.C.) and sophomore Shrish Choudhary (Fremont, Calif.) earning a 6-4 win over Eric Diop (Boston, Mass.) and Tylan Ozkuzey (Montclair, N.J.). 
  • Xiao took one singles in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-1 and sophomore Adam Sun (Glendale, Calif.) followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win in No. 2 singles. 
  • Sophomore Siddharth Marathe (Pune, India) won three singles over Dipo 7-6, 6-2 and Choudhary cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win in No. 4 singles. 
  • Gallagher defeated Ozkuzey in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-3.   

UP NEXT: 

  • MIT  welcome Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday, March 21 for a 4:00 PM match. The Bobcats will head to Skidmore on Saturday, March 22 for a 10:00 AM contest.
