GREENSBORO, NC. - The No. 1 MIT women's swimming and diving team won two more National Championships and set a new national record. The Engineers sit second overall after day two at the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship.
Sophomore Sydney Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) captured her first individual national title and was also on the 200 Freestyle Relay team, which earned the program's second relay national championship during this championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 400 IM: First year Sarah Bernard (Brookline, Mass.) captured fifth in 4:21.17. Classmate Lauren Adler (Ann Arbor, Mich.) finished in 12th with a time of 4:24.32. Adler took almost two seconds off her prelim time.
- 100 Fly: Smith posted a winning time of 53.96, beating out Nicole Ranile (Hatfield, Pa.) of NYU by under a second. Graduate student Alexandra Turvey (Vancouver, B.C.) finished in fifth in 54.27.
- 200 Free: Sophomore Ella Roberson (Midland, Mich.) finished in 1:49.82 for fourth overall.
- 1-Meter Dive: Sophomore Fiora Beratahani (San Jose, Calif.) took fifth with 426.45 points. Senior Rachel Loh (Arcadia, Calif.) tallied a score of 384.80.
- 200 Free Relay: Graduate student Alexandra Turvey (Vancouver, B.C.), Smith, sophomore Ella Roberson (Midland, Mich.) and junior Annika Naveen (Wynnewood, Pa.) held off Pomona-Pitzer for the gold as Naveen brought the title home and gave the Engineers a national record time of 1:30.00 while the Sagehens clocked in at 1:31.48.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Smith earned her third National Title so far and is now a seven time All-American.
- Turvey captured her third relay National Championship is becomes a 24-time All-American.
- Roberson captured her 10th All-America accolade while Naveen notched her fifth and Bernard grabbed her second.
- Beratahani earned her third All-America honor on the boards with Loh taking her sixth overall and fourth on the 1-Meter.
- Adler earned her first All-America award.
- The relay team shaved almost a second off the previous program record which was set earlier this year. They bested the previous national record by .39 seconds. The previous record was set in 2022 by Kenyon.
