BOSTON, Mass. - The MIT men's volleyball team fell in four sets to No. 11 Wentworth on Friday night at Tansey Gymnasium.
Senior Grant Oh (Irvine, Calif.) led the Engineers in kills, blocks, and aces.
THE BASICS:
- Score: Wentworth 3, MIT 1 (26-24, 25-17, 20-25, 25-19)
- Records: MIT (12-12 Overall), Wentworth (20-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Set 1: A service error by Wentworth followed by a kill from sophomore Jensen Fiskin (Palm Desert, Calif.) gave MIT a 15-14 lead. The teams continued to exchange the lead, as the first set saw 19 ties. Fiskin held off the Leopards set point with a kill to tie it up at 24 but Wentworth registered the next two points for the set one win.
- Set 2: A 7-2 run by the hosts gave them an 11-6 lead. The Engineers chipped away with a kill from junior Michael Rini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) making it a 14-12 Wentworth lead, however the Leopards held off MIT to take set two, 25-17.
- Set 3: Back-to-back kills from first year Maddox Brandenburg (Carlsbad, Calif.) put MIT up 9-5 and the visitors eventually built their lead to 15-10. Wentworth tried to chip away but MIT held them off as a kill from junior Kevin Windisch (Placentia, Calif.) gave MIT the set win.
- Set 4: Wentworth jumped out to a quick 6-1 advantage, but Brandenburg made it a three-point set with a kill to cut the Leopards' lead to 12-9. Wentworth quickly rebuilt its lead back to six, but an ace from Oh made it a 15-12 set, but the host would hold onto the lead to earn the four-set win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Oh led the way with 18 kills, four blocks and an ace. Brandenburg tallied nine kills with Fiskin contributing eight along with 11 assists.
- Senior Riley Oh (Irvine, Calif.) paced MIT with 19 assists and first year Warren Nam (Glendale, Calif.) added 10.
- Graduate student Azfal Peermohammed (Pleasanton, Calif.) finished with 10 digs.

- MIT will travel to Elms College on Thursday, March 27 for a 7:00 PM contest. The Leopards host Southern Virginia on Thursday, March 27 at 7:00 PM.
