National Records and National Championships Highlight Day Three of the NCAA Championship for No. 1 Women's Swim and Dive

GREENSBORO, NC. - The No. 1 MIT women's swimming and diving team set two new national records and won two more National Championships on day three of the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving National Championship. MIT trails NYU by 20 points entering the final day of competition tomorrow.

HOW IT HAPPENED:   

  • 200 Medley Relay: Senior Kate Augustyn (Eau Claire, Wis.) led off, followed by first year Sarah Bernard (Brookline, Mass.) and Annika Naveen (Wynnewood, Pa.). Sophomore Ella Roberson (Midland, Mich.) brought the title home for MIT as she completed her anchor leg in 22.02 which gave the team a combined time of 1:39.51. Roberson was able to hold off a late charge by Kenyon which finished second in 1:40.26 
  • 200 Fly: First year Belise Swartwood (Honolulu, Hawaii) took sixth with a time of 2:02.21.  
  • 100 Back: Augustyn defended her title in the event as she clocked in with a time of 53.41. Sophomore Sydney Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) finished second in 54.48. Naveen took 16th. 
  • 100 Breast: Bernard finished in 1:02.80 for eighth place, just behind Nina Lamb of Springfield who finished with a time of 1:02.77. 
  • 800 Free Relay: Graduate student Alexandra Turvey (Vancouver, B.C.), Smith, Augustyn, and Roberson clocked in with a time of 7:19.40 for a fourth-place finish. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Engineers defended their title in the 200 Medley Relay with their new national record time. MIT has won three relays so far this championship. 
  • Augustyn tied her national record, which is the same time she won last year's title in. She now has 25 All-America honors, which is tied for the most in program history. She is now a four-time All-American in the 100 back, 800 free relay, and 200 medley relay. Augustyn now has six National Championships.  
  • Bernard captured her fourth career All-America honor and classmate Swartwood earned her first.  
  • Naveen is now a six-time All-American and recorded her second All-American honor in the 200 Medley Relay.  
  • Roberson captured her 12th All-America honor and is now a two-time National Champion in the 200 Medley Relay.  
  • Smith earned her seventh All-America laurel while Turvey grabbed her 23rd.

  • The final day will conclude with the 1650 Free, 100 Free, 200 Back, 200 Breast, 3-Meter Dive, and the 400 Free Relay.
