No. 12 Women’s Tennis Overpowers Emerson, 7-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 12 MIT women's tennis team lost only two games in a 7-0 victory over Emerson College in a NEWMAC match on Saturday morning at the DuPont Tennis Courts.
 
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED - DOUBLES:
  • Juniors Alaina Kolli (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) and Artemis Pados (Delray Beach, Fla.) defeated first-year Abigail Miner (San Diego, Calif.) and senior Chase Stinson (San Antonio, Texas), 6-0, in the top spot.
  • Senior Jay Lu (Austin, Texas) and first-year Chloe Zeng (Austin, Texas) clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 win over junior Jayden Beverly (Dupont, Wash.) and first-year Alisa Pimenova (Kyiv, Ukraine) in the No. 2 position.
  • First-year Megan Sun (Newbury Park, Calif.) and sophomore Alicen Liu (Novi, Mich.) completed the sweep courtesy of a 6-0 result against sophomore Amaya Briones (Mexico City, Mexico) and first-year Sidra Sundberg (Spring Arbor, Mich.).
HOW IT HAPPENED - SINGLES:
  • Sophomore Sophia Min (Naples, Fla.) topped Sundberg, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 6 slot.
  • Kolli defeated Pimenova, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 3 position.
  • Lu clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Briones in the No. 2 spot.
  • Sun recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Stinson in the No. 4 slot.
  • Zeng defeated Miner, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 1 position.
  • Liu wrapped up the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Beverly in the No. 5 spot.
UP NEXT:
  • MIT will travel to NEWMAC foe Wheaton College on Wednesday, April 2 for a 4:00 PM match.
