DALLAS – MIT baseball first year outfielder
John Spivey (St. Louis, Mo.) has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division III National Hitter and Rookie of the Week for the week of March 31-April 6.
Spivey is the first player to capture both the NCBWA Hitter of the Week and the Rookie of the Week award in the same week since the first rookie of the week honor was awarded by the NCBWA in 2018.
Spivey hit .692 while slugging 1.769 to help his team to three victories including a decision over Babson, the 24th-ranked team in the nation. The St. Louis, Mo. native scored nine times and drove in 12 runs. Spivey doubled twice and homered on four occasions. Spivey homered three times and drove home eight in a Friday win over WPI.
Spivey and the Engineers continue NEWMAC play on Friday with a 3:30 PM contest at Springfield College.
