CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The MIT women's openweight crew team won the Second Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 4+ races, was the runner up in the Varsity 8+ final, and placed first in the Varsity 4+ Petite Final on Sunday at the Knecht Cup Regatta on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.

THE BASICS:

• V8+ Final: 2nd of 6 (6:41.64)
• 2V8+ Final: 1st of 6 (6:52.78)
• V4+ Petite Final: 1st of 6 (8:14.82)
• 2V4+ Final: 1st of 6 (7:59.96)

RACE BY RACE: 

• V8+: Competing for the Ann Harris Smith Memorial Trophy, the Engineers were edged out by BU by 1.21 seconds. The Terriers won in 6:40.43 while MIT recorded a time of 6:41.64, which was 2.05 seconds ahead of third place Drexel.
• 2V8+: MIT captured the victory in 6:52.78, closely followed by Drexel (6:54.20) and Bucknell (6:57.94).
• V4+: The Engineers won the Petite Final by 10 seconds, crossing the finish line in 8:14.82 to defeat Lehigh.
• 2V4+: MIT won the race in 7:59.96, exactly 3.39 seconds ahead of runner up UMass and 4.32 seconds in front of Wisconsin.
