WORCESTER, Mass. — For the first time since 2022, the MIT women's openweight crew team captured the MIT/BC Cup after earning victories in the varsity eight, second varsity eight and second varsity four on Saturday against Boston College, UConn and the host Crusaders at the Holy Cross Invite on Lake Qunsigamond.

THE BASICS:

• V8+: 1st of 4
• 2V8+: 1st of 6
• V4+: 2nd of 4
• 2V4+: 1st of 5

RACE BY RACE: 

• 2V4+: The Engineers opened with a victory in the second varsity four, defeating the Eagles by just over a second. MIT crossed the line with a time of 8:09.6, with BC taking second in 8:10.9. 
• V4+: UConn was the top team in the varsity fours, taking first in 8:28.2. MIT earned silver, finishing in 8:34.9 ahead of third place BC in 8:37.4.
• 2V8+: MIT and the Eagles were neck and neck in the second varsity eight race. The Engineers found the advantage to pull away, winning with a time of 7:25.14. BC finished in 7:27.41 with Holy Cross in third in 7:38.01.
• V8+: MIT's top crew finished in 7:15.2 pulling away from the Eagles who finished with a runner-up time of 7:19.97. Holy Cross was third in 7:27.03 with UConn taking fourth in 7:38.07.
