CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — On a day where the team celebrated its senior class, the MIT Women's Openweight Crew team swept past Bates College in all four of its races in wet and rainy conditions with a strong cross-headwind and some chop on Saturday morning on the Charles River. 

THE BASICS:

• V8+: 1st of 2
• 2V8+: 1st of 3
• V4+: 1st of 2
• 2V4+: 1st of 2

RACE BY RACE: 

• V8+: The Engineers varsity eight got the ball rolling, pulling away from the Bates varsity eight throughout the course to recording a winning time of 7:16.5. Bates finished in 7:27.3. 
• 2V8+: MIT's second varsity eight was also strong on the day, creating even more distance from the Bates 2V in the day's second race. MIT finished in 7:25.9 with Bates back in 7:44.5. 
• V4+: In the varsity fours, MIT finished in 8:27.0 with Bates well back in 8:48.2. 
• 2V4+: MIT completed its morning sweep of the Bobcats with a victory in the second varsity four match up. MIT finished in 8:46.1 with Bates trailing in 8:57.3.
