CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men's fencing team placed a program-record 14 student-athletes on the Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) Academic All-Conference Team. In addition, the Engineers qualified for the team award for the fifth year in a row.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference Team, a fencer must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the fall semester (or the grading period that ends by January in the case of a non-semester grading period), include two consecutive marking periods, and the fencer must be on the roster at least one semester (or marking term) of the current season.
For the team award, the average of the entire roster's cumulative GPA must be 3.3 or higher. In addition, every fencer on the roster at any point during the season is included in the team average GPA.
