CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men's fencing team collected 32 individual academic honors from the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) while the Engineers qualified for the team award for the fifth year in a row.
 
Established in 2021, the USFCA recognizes individual student-athletes and teams on the basis of their combined fall and spring semester GPAs (or fall and winter quarter GPAs). All-Academic Team honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or higher. Scholar of Distinction honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.7 or higher.
 
MIT had the fourth-highest GPA across all NCAA divisions with a 3.73 mark. Individually, a program record 18 student-athletes earned a spot on the All-Academic Team while 14 were named Scholars of Distinction, setting a new program standard.
