Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer and Brandeis Play to 1-1 Draw

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A late penalty kick goal by visiting Brandeis evened the score at one as the Judges held off a late scoring chance from the MIT men's soccer team to tie the Engineers, 1-1 on Saturday afternoon on Roberts Field.  
 
THE BASICS: 

  • Score: MIT 1, Brandeis 1 
  • Records: MIT (1-3-1 Overall, 0-0-0 NEWMAC), Brandeis (4-0-1, 0-0-0 UAA) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The teams played a scoreless 45 minutes of play with Tyler Correnti turning away four shots by the Engineers. Paolo Mangiafico made a save on the only shot on goal by the Judges in the half. 
  • Keegan Harrison broke the scoreless tie as a free-kick by Ethan Reich went through the hands of Correnti right to Harrison for the score at 65:13. 
  • A foul in the box by the Engineers gave Brandeis a penalty kick opportunity for Rain Osselmann-Chai who converted the goal at 84:08. 
  • With time winding down, Colin Kamhi had a great scoring opportunity as he got past the Brandeis defense, but his shot sailed wide as the game concluded in a 1-1 draw.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Harrison scored his first goal for MIT while Reich got his second assist of the year. 
  • Osselmann-Chai scored his second goal of the season for the Judges. 
  • MIT held a 12-8 advantage in shots and a 6-2 advantage on shots on target.  
  • Correnti (4-0-1) made five saves while Mangiafoco (1-3-1) turned away one. 

UP NEXT: 

  • MIT remains at home as they will host Wentworth on Wednesday, September 17 at 6:00 PM. The Judges will head to Wesleyan on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:30 PM.
