No. 7 Men's Swim and Dive Kicks off 2026 With 199-98 Victory Over Coast Guard

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The No. 7 MIT men's swimming and diving team defeated Coast Guard 199-98 on Saturday afternoon at the Roland Hall Pool. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:    

  • 400 Medley Relay: The Engineers team of Aitor Arrese-Igor, Thomas Wu, Eric Huang, and Nathan Kim took the top spot in 3:29.66.  
  • 1,000 Free: Mark O'Mara won the event with a time of 9:56.58. 
  • 200 Free: Grant Hu took the victory with a time of 1:43.00 followed by Kim with a time of 1:46.25. 
  • 100 Back: Ian Sun posted a top-time of 52.23.  
  • 100 Breast: Daniel Seong earned the win with a mark of 59.62 followed by Michael Turmilov in second with a time of 1:00.80. 
  • 200 Fly: Eric Huang swam the fastest time in the event, clocking in at 1:56.08. 
  • 50 Free: Arrese-Igor and Wu took the top two spots. Arrese-Igor won in 21.77 with Wu following with a time of 21.77. 
  • 1 Meter Diving: Truman Remenicky posted the highest score of 286.75, which is an NCAA Regional mark. 
  • 100 Free: Kim took second in 46.54. 
  • 200 Back: Sun and Zack West grabbed the top-two spots with Sun leading the way with a winning time of 1:55.91. 
  • 200 Breast: Hu took the victory in 2:07.38. 
  • 500 Free: O'Mara grabbed his second win of the day clocking in at 4:47.14 while John Tietjen took second in 4:52.65. 
  • 100 Fly: Huang finished second with a time of 51.14. 
  • 3 Meter Diving: Jack Tucker earned the best score of 241.35. 
  • 200 IM: Kelson Cantrell earned the win in 1:57.26. 
  • 200 Free Relay: The Engineers wrapped up the meet with a victory as Wu, Arrese-Igor, Eric Huang and Kim finished in 1:26.15.  

UP NEXT:    

  • MIT returns to action next weekend when they head to BU on Saturday, January 17th for a 1:30 PM meet.
