GREENWOOD, Indiana – Aitor Arrese-Igor and Thomas Wu of the MIT men's swimming and diving team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2025-26 Academic All-America Teams.
Arrese-Igor earned First Team honors as one of eight repeat selections and one of five student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA. A Computer Science and Decision-Making major, Arrese-Igor is a five-time All-American and ranks second in program history in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 back. He has garnered 11 NEWMAC All-Conference accolades and is a 10-time NEWMAC Champion. Outside of the pool he is an incoming Software Engineering Intern at Jane Street where he previously was Software Engineering Fellow and was selected as one of 14 fellows for intensive 8-week training session focused on practical software development skills. He has also previously been a Software Engineering Intern at Citadel and was a Machine Learning Engineer at Aim Labs where he worked on DeuceVision, a computer vision tennis tracking model that produced match statistics.
Wu earned his first CSC Academic All-America honor as he was named a Second Team Academic All-American. Wu, a Computer Science and Engineering major, was a four-time NEWMAC Champion in 2026 and has won a total of seven in his career. Additionally, Wu is a three-time All-American. Out of the pool, Wu is a researcher at the MIT Sports Lab where he synthesized a predictive model for swimming career performance to provide actionable insights to coaches and athletes, informing training and team selection. He also is a member of Technical Staff at Mercor and has internships in Software Engineering at Genius and Microsoft.
