Men's Swimming and Diving

No. 6 MIT Swim and Dive Wins 12 Events in Victory Over No. 18 Tufts

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 6 MIT men's swimming and diving team won 12 events en route to a 183.50-114.50 win against No. 18 Tufts on Saturday afternoon at the Zesiger Center Pool.

HOW IT HAPPENED:    

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay Aitor Arrese-IgorThomas WuBryce Roberts, and Aaron Martin, won in 1:30.77  
  • 1000 Yard Freestyle: Grant Hu won with a time of 9:18.09 followed by Mark O'Mara in second with a time of 9:30.04. 
  • 200 Yard Freestyle: Nathan Kim took the win in 1:39.37 followed by Evan Wong in second with a time of 1:39.81. 
  • 100 Yard Backstroke: Arrese-Igor earned the victory, finishing in 49.50 followed by Zack West in third with a time of 51.42. 
  • 100 Yard Breaststroke: Daniel Seong finished second with a time of 57.03 while Nathan Wu, finished third in 57.09. 
  • 200 Yard Butterfly: Ian Sun won in 1:51.98 with Nathan Zhu coming in second, touching the wall in 1:52.84. 
  • 50 Yard Freestyle: Roberts finished second with a time of 21.30 followed closely by Thomas Wu with a time of 21.49. 
  • 1-Meter Diving: Truman Remenicky scored 496.06 for third with Andrew Simons collecting 462.89 points for fourth. 
  • 100 Yard Freestyle: Martin won in 45.83 with Evan Wong in third with a time of 45.98. 
  • 200 Yard Backstroke: Kim secured his second win with a time of 1:50.70 with West in third with a time of 1:53.33.
  • 200 Yard Breaststroke: Seong got the win in 2:03.17 with Hu right behind, clocking in at 2:04.21. 
  • 500 Yard Freestyle: O'Mara took first in 4:40.41 with John Tietjen earning a third-place finish with a time of 4:42.80. 
  • 100 Yard Butterfly: Caden Wong won in 49.16 while Sun finished fourth with a time of  50.31. 
  • 3-Meter Diving: Remenicky scored 484.04 points to finish second with Jack Tucker in fourth with 436.20 points. 
  • 200 Yard IM: Jason Wang earned the victory, touching the wall in 1:49.72 and he was followed by Kelson Cantrell in second with a time of 1:52.37. 
  • 400 Yard Freestyle Relay: Martin, Arrese-Igor, Roberts, and Kim took the win in 3:01.75. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Reminicky and Tucker had regional scores on both boards with Andrew Simons earning a regional score on the 1-Meter. 
  • Wang earned a B Cut in the 200 IM. 
  • Hu set a new school record in the 1,000 free and currently has the second fastest time in DIII.

UP NEXT:    

  • The Engineers will wrap up their regular season portion of the schedule with their senior meet against Amherst on Saturday, January 31 at 1:00 PM.
