BRISTOL, R.I. – In its final non-conference game of the season, the MIT field hockey team battled Roger Williams University for a 3-2 overtime victory on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Roger Williams generated a trio of shots in a span of 12 seconds as its last attempt resulted in Emma Sheldon connecting on a pass from Maddy Monahan with 6:16 on the clock. MIT, however, ended the shutout with 15 seconds on the clock. During the Engineers' second penalty corner inside the last 28 seconds of the period, Tomovski sent a hard shot to the cage, but it took a deflection and the ball made its way to Grace Chrapowitzky who snuck behind the defense and tapped it across the goal line.
- The second quarter was a defensive battle as MIT had a 5-4 edge in shots and a 2-0 margin in shots on goal while the Hawks earned a pair of penalty corners compared to one for the visitors.
- Roger Williams had some momentum midway through the third quarter as two penalty corners led to two shots. However, the Engineers quickly earned a penalty corner. Tomovski sent a blast from the top of the circle and then Sammi Blocher battled for possession at the far post and forced the ball into the cage with 5:03 on the clock.
- MIT controlled the action for most of the fourth quarter, but the Hawks put together a final push. The hosts produced two penalty corners, two shots on goal, and a blocked shot before a penalty corner set up the tying goal by Brodie Loveland with 1:24 remaining in regulation.
- Both teams had chances to capture the victory in overtime. The Engineers registered the first two shots of the extra session; however, McKenzie Foley came up with a defensive save and goalie Meili Raspante made her fourth stop of the night. On the counterattack, Alexia Ninios denied Loveland's attempt and then a shot from Monahan was wide.
- With just under four minutes remaining, MIT was awarded a penalty corner which resulted in a shot by Chrapowitzky that was deflected out of bounds. On the restart, Tomovski collected a pass from Drew Hussar, dodged a defender and unleashed a shot that deflected off Raspante's left leg and then ricocheted off the far post and into the goal.
