Top Times in the Mile Highlight No. 12 Men’s Track and Field’s Performance at BU Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. — Highlighted by a dominant performance in the mile from Jared SteinsTim Neumann and Jake Cobb the No. 12 MIT men's track and field team competed on Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.  

THE BASICS:  

  • No Team Score 

TOP PERFORMERS - Track Events: 

  • 60m: Dylan Bradford finished fifth with a PR of 7.20. 
  • 200m: Bradford was also 63rd in 22.55, while Andrew Spears finished 113th in 23.82 
  • 400m: Davis Lee was 12th in 48.85m, recording a PR that moved him to fifth on MIT's all-time list. Kristian Praizner added a 45th place finish (49.81), while Adam Eisdorfer was 72nd (50.66) and Theo Orfanou took 102nd in 51.89. Eisdorfer and Orfanou each ran PRs. 
  • 800: Already the Division III leader in the event, David Whitaker was 53rd in 1:53.32, recording an NED3 automatic qualifying mark. Ayman Noreldaim was 87th (1:55.67) as seven MIT runners competed in the 800m. 
  • Mile: A 4:01.52 PR from Jared Steins paced three top 16 national qualifying times for the Engineers. Steins took 32nd. Tim Neumann was 44th in 4:02.53 and Jake Cobb was 99th in 4:07.01. All three times were automatic NED3 qualifying times. 
  • 3000m: Dylan Feigner was 124th in 8:18.73.  
  • 4 x 400m: Kristian Praizner, Noreldaim, Wyatt Vick, and Lee had the 16th best time in 3:20.62. Charlie GlassIan GerardAlex Naehu, and Chris Chan added the 20th best time in 3:26.97. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Steins moved to 11th and Neumann to 14th on the all-time DIII rankings. Steins and Neumann also moved into the top five in the current national rankings in the mile. Steins is 3rd and Neumann is 5th while Cobb is now 16th on the national list. 
  • Steins and Neumann finished first and third in their heat with MIT alum and current assistant coach Ziyad Hassan taking second.  
  • Lee is 46th nationally in the 400m.  
  • The 4x400 relay has moved inside the top 50, currently ranking 48th.  

NEXT UP: 

  • MIT's squad will be split tomorrow competing at the Crimson Open at Harvard University and the Tufts University Cupid Challenge.
