Rifle Ranks Third in Smallbore at MAC Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT's Eleanor Yang claimed sixth place in the smallbore competition at the Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference (MAC) Championship held in MIT's DuPont Rifle Range on Saturday. As a team, the Engineers ranked third out of six squads.
 
THE BASICS:
  • Team Finish: 3rd of 6
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Mount Aloysius captured the team title with a score of 2,245, followed by the University of Rhode Island (2,199), MIT (2,177), Norwich (2,163), Schreiner (2,158), and John Jay (2,017).
  • Molly Mitchell (Schreiner) won the individual title with 577 points, ahead of James Stevens (Mount Aloysius – 572 points), Sophia Wood (URI – 565 points), Kayla Trinkle (Mount Aloysius – 561 points), Cora Anderson (Schreiner – 561 points), and Yang (559).
  • William Knowlton ranked 14th with a score of 543 as Danny Antonelli was right behind him in the standings with 540 points.
  • Spruce Campbell shot a season-best total of 535 to rank 18th while Avaneesh Pal rounded out the Engineers in 25th place with a mark of 528.
UP NEXT:
  • MIT wraps up the MAC Championship on Sunday, March 1 with the air rifle competition which will begin at 9:30 AM.
