No. 5 Women's Swim and Dive Takes Part in Boston University Winter Open

BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 5 MIT women's swimming and diving team took part in the Boston University Winter Open from Friday, February 6 – Saturday, February 7 at the FitRec Competition Pool. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:    

  • 500 Free: Camila Pierce finished eighth with a time of 5:16.61. 
  • 200 IM: Katherine Yao finished in fifth with a time of 2:08.82. 
  • 50 Free: Miri Griffin placed 16th, finishing with mark of 24.93. Claire Mao finished the race in 25.82 while Pierce clocked in at 26.56. 
  • 1-Meter Dive: Kailey Epstein took fourth with a score of 252.35. Larissa Gosslau finished seventh with a score of 226.50. Maya Zavatsky and Caroline Laber finished in eighth and ninth, respectively while Nicolette Xydas and Katrina Li scored 211.95 and 188.05 points.  
  • 100 Fly: Emily Wu led the way for MIT with a 10th place finish in 59.28 followed by Pierce in 11th (59.65). Griffin and Mao finished with times of 1:00.81 and 1:01.63. 
  • 400 IM: Yao took third, finishing with a time of 4:34.47. 
  • 200 Free: Griffin clocked in with a time of 1:57.76 for eighth overall. Pierce finished in 12th (1:58.99). 
  • 100 Breast: Mao finished the event with a time of 1:11.10. 
  • 100 Back: Wu clocked in with a time of 1:00.49. 
  • 200 Medley Relay: Wu, Mao, Yao, and Griffin finished with a time of 1:50.27. 
  • 3-Meter Dive: Epstein finished fifth with a score of 232.75 followed by Gosslau and Laber. Zavatsky and Xydas tallied scores of 215.60 and 199.60. 
  • 200 Free Relay: Yao, Pierce, Mao, and Griffin won the race with a time of 1:40.63. 
  • 200 Back: Wu finished with a final time of 2:10.14. 
  • 100 Free: Griffin finished eighth with a time of 53.43. 
  • 200 Breast: Yao clocked in with a time of 2:24.46 to earn a fourth-place finish. Mao finished in 2:33.24 for ninth. 
  • 200 Fly: Pierce finished 2:12.26 for a fifth-place finish. 
  • 400 Medley Relay: Yao, Mao, Pierce, and Griffin placed third with a time of 4:09.56.  

UP NEXT:    

  • The Engineers will compete at the 2026 NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships which will be hosted at the Zesiger Center Pool from Thursday, February 19 – Sunday, February 22.
