BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The MIT men's track and field Distance Medley Relay of Tim Neumann, Davis Lee, David Whitaker, and Jared Steins earned All-America honors to lead the Engineers on Friday at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The MIT DMR combined for a time of 9:46.36 to earn all five of MIT's points in the team standings. The Engineers are currently in 16th place overall.
THE BASICS:
TOP PERFORMERS - Track Events:
- 60m Hurdles: Enoch Ellis was sixth in his heat and 17th overall in 8.24 seconds.
- Mile: Jake Cobb finished ninth in the first heat and 17th overall in 4:16.94.
- 5,000m: Dylan Fiegener earned All-America second team honors in his first NCAA appearance, finishing 13th in 14:25.40.
- Distance Medley Relay: Neumann, Lee, Whitaker, and Steins finished fourth in 9:46.36 to earn All-America honors in an exciting DMR that saw the Engineers in the lead following the opening three legs. Steins was leading the pack in the mile but would finish fourth after SUNY Geneseo's Ryan Hagan made a move to the front and left the rest of the pack behind over the final 800m.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Neumann and Steins both repeated as first team All-Americans in the DMR after earning the honor in 2024-25. Whitaker and Lee earned the honor for the first at indoor nationals.
- The DMR was the second fastest in MIT program history.

- Saturday is the final day of the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at Birmingham CrossPlex.
