INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – The No. 5 MIT women's swimming and diving team opened the 2026 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships hosted at the IU Natatorium on Wednesday. The Engineers captured All-America honors in four events. 

STANDINGS:  
1. NYU – 121 points 
2. Kenyon – 108.50 points 
3. Emory – 92.50 points 
14. MIT – 20 points 

HOW IT HAPPENED:    

• 500 Free: Mary Feliz finished in 4:53.71 to take 11th overall, improving her prelim time of 4:56.90.  
• 200 IM: Kathy Nie took tenth with a time of 2:03.43. 
• 50 Free: Annika Naveen touched the wall with a time of 23.37 to finish 14th. 
• 400 Medley Relay: Sydney Smith, Sarah Bernard, Belise Swartwood, and Lillian Poag finished in 3:47.59 to take 15th. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

• Feliz, Nie, Poag and Swartwood earned their first All-America honors. 
• Swartwood captured her second All-America honor. 
• Bernard is now a six-time All-American, earning her second All-America honor in the 400 Medley Relay. 
• Naveen is now a nine-time All-American, earning her second All-America honor in the 500 Free. 
• Smith becomes a 12-time All-American with her third AA honor in the 400 Medley Relay. 

UP NEXT:    

• Day two of competition begins tomorrow, Thursday March 19 with prelims at 10:00 AM. Events will include the 200 Free, 100 Fly, 400 IM, 200 Free Relay and 1-Meter Dive.
