BOSTON/MEDFORD, Mass. — The No. 4 MIT men's track and field team competed on Saturday at the NEICAAA Indoor Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center and the Tufts Final Qualifier at Gantcher Family Field House.
At the NEICAAA Championships, Patrick Haertel and Nolan Clement in the 60m and Sean Huckleberry in the triple jump each earned top eight spots. At Tufts, Justin Buonato won the shot put, while Dylan Fiegener was the runner-up in the 5000m with an MIT first year record time and Jaden McKee was second in the pole vault.

- NEICAAA: 16th of 23 (12 points)

TOP PERFORMERS - Track Events:
- 60m (NEICAAA): Haertel and Clement both advanced to the finals with top six times in the prelims. Haertel had the third fastest time in 6.91 and Clement was sixth in 6.92. They went on to run matching times of 6.91 in the final, with Haertel earning four points for a fifth-place finish and Clement claiming three points for an sixth place finish.
- 400m (Tufts): Connor Sterling and Ayman Noreldaim finished third and fourth respectively. Sterling had a time of 50.55 and Noreldaim clocked a PR of 51.50.
- 800m (Tufts): Wyatt Vick finished 20th in 1:58.61.
- Mile (Tufts): Adarsh Iyer recorded a time of 4:21.04 to earn 12th place.
- 5000m (Tufts): Fiegener jumped up the national qualifying list and finished as the runner-up with a PR of 14:24.60.
TOP PERFORMERS - Field Events:
- Triple Jump (NEICAAA): Huckleberry put down matching jumps of 14.48m (47' 6.25") on his fourth and fifth attempts to take hold of fourth place and earn five points in the team standings. Fischer James Espiritu Argosino was also 11th for MIT with an effort of 12.73m.
- Pole Vault (Tufts): McKee was the runner-up clearing 4.83m (15'10") on his second attempt at the height. Ethan Soderbloom also finished in the top five after clearing 4.53m on his final attempt at the height.
- Shot Put (Tufts): Buonato fouled on five of his six attempts but his third attempt was all he needed as a toss of 16.51m (54'2") won the event for MIT.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Clement is currently sitting at 20th (6.79) on the indoor qualifying list in the 60m thanks to his effort at the Crimson Open in February.
- Buonato is still 19th in the shot thanks to his effort of 16.85m at last weekend's NED3 Championships. Saturday was his third shot put event win of the indoor season.
- Fiegener jumped inside the top 22 in the 5000m with his time today at Tufts, he is currently 18th on the national list.
- McKee's mark of 4.83m in the pole vault is 27th nationally.
- Huckleberry is also 27th nationally in the triple jump thanks to his effort on Saturday.
