BABSON PARK, Ma. – The MIT softball team rallied to erase a six-run deficit and earn a 13-12 win in game one and followed with another come-back win in game two as the Engineers completed a sweep of Babson on the road on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME ONE:
- Babson put together a six-run second to take an early lead. The Beavers worked a bases loaded walk for their first run and two-run doubles from Devin McCall and Maddy DeLong increased the lead to 5-0. Lexi Sealy followed with another RBI double, but Emily Watson got Belle Dicampello to fly out and end the inning.
- MIT quickly responded to take the lead with an 11-run top of the third. Ava Ladd doubled home Layla Thiessen and Delaney Benevides, and Lauren Sundquist followed with a two-run double two batters later to cut the Babson lead to two. MIT loaded the bases and Olivia Scarpaci cleared them giving MIT a 7-6 lead. Thiessen and Arianna Kumar knocked in runs to cap the 11-run inning.
- An RBI groundout from Ladd in the fifth increased the Engineer lead to 12-6, but Babson responded in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from Charly Landow.
- Benevides beat out an infield single which plated Sienna Wilson for the 13th run of the day for the visitors in the sixth. Once again, Babson responded with a Charly Landow single to cut the MIT lead to 13-8.
- The home team rallied in their last at-bats, putting up a four-run seventh. Dicampello doubled to left center to make it a four-run game, and after a walk to Sophia Pak, Charlotte Raymond took a 1-1 pitch over the left field wall to make it a one-run game. Sarah Blackett then struck out Devin McCall to preserve the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Blackett came in and pitched five innings to move to 7-1. She struck out seven Babson batters. Anna Ziccardi took the loss for the home team, falling to 4-2.
- Thiessen, Benevides, Kumar and Sundquist all had three hits each for MIT.
- Ladd and Kumar had three RBI each in the contest.
- Raymond led the way for Babson with four hits while Pak had three.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME TWO:
- Thiessen scored the first Engineer run off a Babson error in the first. Holland Poe then had a two-run single to make it 3-0 MIT.
- Babson then scored six unanswered runs to pull ahead by three. Dicampello and Raymond each had RBI singles while Maddy DeLong and Lexi Sealy had two-run doubles.
- Scarpaci took the first pitch of her at-bat over the left field wall for a two-run homer which cut the Beavers lead to one. Thiessen then singled home Maggie Feng to tie the game and Ladd singled home Thiessen with the go-ahead run in the fourth.
- Raymond tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single but Babson could not get the go-ahead run across the plate as Charly Landow grounded out to Ladd at third to end the inning.
- Poe singled with one out and advanced to second on a Babson fielding error. Scarpaci then singled up the middle to plate Poe with the game-winning run in the fifth.
- Sharona Huang retired Babson in order in both the fifth and sixth innings. Landow hit a double down the line with two outs in the seventh, but Huang got Izzy Burgess to ground out to Feng at second and end the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Huang tossed six innings allowing one run on five hits to improve to 4-1. Katie Vlacich falls to 1-5 for Babson as she went 6.1 innings.
- Poe led the way going 3-4 with two RBI while Scarpaci went 2-4 with three RBI.

- MIT will face Wentworth in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, April 8, with the first pitch of game one scheduled for 3:00 PM.
