MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Led by NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year Ava Ladd, the MIT softball team earned seven All-Conference accolades. The Engineers had four first-team selections and three second-team selections.
Joining Ladd on the first team are Layla Thiessen, Arianna Kumar, and Holland Poe. Olivia Scarpaci, Delaney Benevides, and Lauren Sundquist were voted to the second team.
Ava Ladd

- Defensive Player of the Year
- Third First Team All-Conference recognition
- Has made just nine errors in 164 chances (.945 fielding percentage)
- Leads the team with 47 RBI
Layla Thiessen
- First Team All-Conference
- First Team Honoree last year
- Second on the team with a .416 batting average
- Stole 27 bases and scored 40 runs
Holland Poe
- First Team All-Conference
- Leads the team with a .417 batting average
- Tied for the team lead with three homeruns and 39 RBI
Arianna Kumar
- First Team All-Conference
- Second Team All-Conference in 2025
- Batting .375
- Has 11 doubles on the season
Delaney Benevides
- Second Team All-Conference
- First Team All-Conference in 2025
- Second on the team with 23 stolen bases
- Batting .401 with 34 runs scored
Lauren Sundquist
- Second Team All-Conference
- Hitting .400
- Has 19 extra-base hits (14 doubles, three triples, two homers)
- Knocked in 30 runs and scored 42
Olivia Scarpaci
- Second Team All-Conference
- Three-time Second Team All-Conference member
- Has 11 doubles on the season
- Comitted just two errors and thrown out six base runners
MIT will take on Colby in Bangor, Maine on the campus of Husson University on Thursday, May 14 at 1:30 PM in the opening round of the 2026 NCAA Softball Regional.
