Women’s Lightweight Crew Competes at Women’s Sprints

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The No. 6 MIT women's lightweight crew varsity eight advanced to the Grand Final before earning a fifth-place finish at the 51st annual IRA Women's Sprints on Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond. The Engineers also added a fourth-place finish in fours and a pair of fourth place finishes in doubles.

LIGHTWEIGHT 8+:

MIT advanced to the Grand Final with a third-place finish in the second of two opening heats. The Engineers had a morning time of 6:39.545, keeping pace with heat runner-up Georgetown. After trailing Georgetown in the morning, MIT finished ahead of the Hoyas in the grand final in 6:38.399. MIT was a little more than a length back of fourth place Boston University (6;33.855). Princeton won the event in 6:26.783.
