Sondag, Huckleberry Lead No. 11 Track and Field at Williams F.I.R.E. Meet

Williamstown, Mass. — Owen Sondag earned a victory in the 10,000 meters and Sean Huckleberry won the triple jump to lead the No. 11 MIT men's track and field team on Friday and Saturday at the Williams F.I.R.E Meet.

TOP PERFORMERS – Track Events:

100 Meters: Patrick Haertel placed third in the final with a time of 11.07 after running 10.96 in the preliminaries, while Chidubem Chukwu posted a preliminary time of 11.40.
200 Meters: Davin Li recorded a fifth-place finish and a PR in 22.06, followed by Chidubem Chukwu in 22.95.
400 Meters: Davis Lee led MIT with a fourth-place effort in 49.19, while Kristian Praizner (49.66), Connor Sterling (49.77), and Adam Eisdorfer (50.77) also competed.
800 Meters: David Whitaker paced nine Engineers in the event with a time of 1:52.42, followed by Tim Neumann's PR of 1:53.38 in 14th. Ayman Noreldaim (1:55.26), Wyatt Vick (1:56.55), Alex Naehu (1:56.72), Jared Steins (1:57.41), Chris Chan (1:57.80), Charlie Black (1:59.52), and Ian Gerard (1:59.88) also ran for MIT.
1500 Meters: Tim Neumann finished fourth with a time of 3:48.92, while Tage Mehta followed with a PR of 4:01.04.
5000 Meters: Dylan Fiegener led MIT with a sixth-place finish in 14:23.37, setting a PR a week after winning the NEWMAC title. Fiegener was followed by Renne Cooper (14:39.53), Landon Hering (15:15.29), and Achilles Shui (15:21.91).
10,000 Meters: Owen Sondag captured first place with a PR of 29:48.97, while Yichen Sun (30:55.25) and Nate Martinez (31:30.61) rounded out the MIT finishers.
110 Hurdles: Enoch Ellis won the event, clocking 14.64 in the final after running 14.54 in the preliminaries.
400 Hurdles: Theo Orfanou recorded a time of 58.32.
3000 Steeplechase: Luke Rupert finished second, crossing the line in 9:11.94.
4x400 Relay: The MIT quartet of Kristian Praizner, Connor Sterling, Ayman Noreldaim, and Davis Lee finished seventh in 3:17.82.

TOP PERFORMERS – Field Events:

High Jump: Anthony Meng won the event, clearing 1.86 meters (6'1.25").
Pole Vault: Jaden McKee led MIT with a clearance of 4.72 meters (15'5.75"), followed by Leo Sun at 4.42 meters (14'6") and Ethan Soderbloom at 4.27 meters (14'0").
Triple Jump: Sean Huckleberry captured first place with a PR of 14.85 meters (48'8.75"), while Sawyer Quallen finished third at 14.18 meters and Fischer Argosino recorded a jump of 12.81 meters.
Shot Put: Justin Buonato placed fourth with a throw of 16.30 meters (53'5.75"), while Leon Schultz added a mark of 12.91 meters (42'4.25").
Hammer Throw: Justin Buonato led MIT with a throw of 44.47 meters (145'11"), followed by Leon Schultz's PR of 43.49 meters (142'8").
Javelin: Jonah Goldstein placed second with a best throw of 52.45 meters (172'1"), followed by Marc Baker (50.77m), Ezekiel Dube-Garrett (49.77m), and Sean Nagle (46.06m).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

10,000 Meters: Sondag continues to climb the national list and is now 15th nationally with his time of 29:48.97.
Triple Jump: Huckleberry moved to 11th in the triple jump with his mark of 14.85.
MIT 13 marks across nine events that rank inside the top 25 nationally with a one week to go until NCAA selections are announced.
