MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – For the twelfth time since its inaugural year (2013-2014), and 11th time in a row, MIT has been recognized with the NEWMAC's Women's Presidents Cup, announced by Executive Director Patrick B. Summers on Thursday afternoon.

Dr. G. Anthony Grant, MIT Director of Athletics/DAPER Department Head. "Winning the NEWMAC's top honor is a significant accomplishment for our women's programs, but maintaining that level of excellence for over a decade is truly remarkable. I hope our current and former student-athletes, coaches, and staff are all incredibly proud of this recognition."
The Engineers captured six women's postseason championships during the 2025-2026 academic year, as well as four regular-season titles.
The fall marked the beginning of the Engineers' success, which saw three conference tournament titles and two regular-season crowns. Their cross country team started the year strong by earning its 18th straight conference crown. The women's soccer program claimed the regular season title for the 13th time in history and won the program's 14th NEWMAC Championship. MIT women's volleyball earned a regular-season crown and took home the NEWMAC title, while the field hockey program reached the NEWMAC semifinals.
During the winter season, the Engineers secured their 15th straight NEWMAC Swimming & Diving conference title. MIT women's basketball reached the NEWMAC postseason, earning the fourth seed.
This spring brought two more conference tournament titles, beginning with the Engineers women's track and field program winning its 24th NEWMAC Championship.MIT women's lacrosse had an undefeated run in conference play and went on to win its second straight NEWMAC championship. The MIT women's tennis program earned the regular season title and an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship. The Engineers softball team wrapped up the spring success, taking the second seed in the conference tournament and earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Softball Regionals.
The NEWMAC is an association of 13 selective academic institutions: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Saint Anselm College (beginning reclassification process with NCAA in 2027-28), Salve Regina University, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, that are committed to providing high quality competitive athletic opportunities for student-athletes within an educational and respectful environment that embodies the NCAA Division III Philosophy. The conference also partners with eight Associate Members: Brandeis University (Women's Lacrosse, 2026-2027), New York University (Men's Volleyball, 2026-2027), Norwich University (Football), Simmons College (Rowing), SUNY Maritime College (Football), SUNY New Paltz (Men's Volleyball, 2026-2027), U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Football), and Vassar College (Men's Volleyball, 2026-2027), while sponsoring 21 sports.
