WALTHAM, Mass. – After falling behind just 17 seconds into the match, the MIT men's soccer team tied up the match on a goal from Woods Windham but could not hold off Brandeis as the Judges were able to pull away with a 2-1 win on Saturday afternoon on Gordon Field. 
 
THE BASICS: 

• Score: Brandeis 2, MIT 1 
• Records: MIT (1-2-1 Overall), No. 18 Brandeis (2-2-1 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• The Judges got a quick strike from Aidan Chuang who intercepted the ball in front of the cage and converted on the score just 17 seconds into the match. 
• The offenses were looking to add to the scoreboard with the Judges holding a 10-9 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes of play. Brandeis keeper Gianni Nrecaj made three saves while Paolo Mangiafico turned away four. 
• Ilya Davydov lifted a pass to Brayden Schnitzer who quickly sent a looping pass to the opposite side of the field where Windham was able to leap up for the header goal at 56:40 to tie the match. 
• Just over 10 minutes later, Brandeis regained the lead as a throw-in from the Judges was kicked around and eventually Langston Byrd got the ball to Jacob Morse who pulled Mangiafico out of the net and placed a shot into the center of the net. 
• MIT had three shots in the final minutes but could not pull even.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

• Windham scored his third goal of the season. 
• Schnitzer and Davydov notched their first collegiate points. 
• Mangiafico made five saves and falls to 1-1. 

UP NEXT: 

• MIT returns home on Wednesday, September 16 for a 7:00 PM non-contest match against Salem St. The Judges will host Wesleyan on Tuesday, September 15 at 7:00 PM.
