Men's Soccer Falls to Roger Williams, 2-1

BRISTOL, R.I. – The MIT men's soccer team saw a late comeback fall short as the Engineers dropped a 2-1 road contest to Roger Williams on Tuesday night at Bayside Field. 
 
THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Roger Williams 2, MIT 1 
  • Records: MIT (1-1-1 Overall), Roger Williams (3-1-0 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Dylan Robbins found Ollie Hamilton in front of the cage where his strike went past the diving Nicolas Santos-Shin at 15:34. 
  • The Hawks extended their lead to 2-0 when Hamilton found the back of the net off a pass from Tyler Jastrab. 
  • Keegan Harrison got MIT on the board late in the second half with a strike at 79:46. 
  • A foul on Roger Williams gave the Engineers a free kick, but they could not find the back of the net to pull even. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Harrison notched his first goal of the season and second of his career. 
  • Santos-Shin, making his first collegiate start, turned away four shots in the match. 
  • Hamilton now has four goals on the season with his two-goal performance.  
  • Todd Machowski turned away three shots from MIT. 

UP NEXT: 

  • The Engineers return to action on Saturday, September 12 for a 3:00 PM road contest against Brandeis. The Hawks will also be on the road on Saturday as they take on Wentworth at 1:00 PM.
