Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Seebeck Scores Twice to Give No. 8 Women's Soccer a 4-0 Win Over Lesley

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 8 MIT women's soccer team got two goals from Madeline Seebeck in the second half to grab a 4-0 non-conference win over Lesley under the lights on Roberts Field on Tuesday night. 
 
THE BASICS: 

  • Score: MIT 4, Lesley 0 
  • Records: MIT (2-0-1 Overall), Lesley (0-2-0 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Ayla Sumer had multiple scoring chances early in the first half, but the Lesley defense was able to keep the Engineers off the board.  
  • Amara Ukomadu lifted the ball to the top of the net, but Lloy Bartolotti made a leaping save to keep the game scoreless after 45 minutes of play. 
  • The Lynx had a scoring chance off a free kick from Bethany Slivka in early in the second, but the shot sailed high. 
  • Seebeck broke through at the 67:10 mark in the second, diving through the Lynx defense to tip in the crossing pass from Sumer past a diving Bartolotti for her first goal of the season.  
  • Seebeck got her second just a few minutes later, as Arianna Doss pulled Bartolotti out of the cage and found Seebeck open on the near side for the score at 70:02. 
  • Arianna Chin collected a throw-in and found Elizabeth Silva who beat the Lynx defense in front and put a touch pass into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal at 75:24. 
  • Chin then set up Eliza Young at 88:22. Chin sent a pass across the box to Young who spun around her defender and put a strike into the middle of the goal. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Seebeck notched the third multi-goal game of her career. 
  • Doss got her first assist of they year while Sumer notched her second assist of the season. 
  • Silva and Young both registered their first collegiate goals while Chin got her first collegiate points.  
  • Cassidy Jennings got the win in goal, earning her third career shutout. 

UP NEXT: 

  • MIT is right back on the pitch tomorrow, Wednesday, September 9 as they head to Johnson & Wales for a 7:00 PM match. The Lynx head to Maine-Augusta on Saturday, September 12 for a 1:00 PM contest.
